As an “indie” publication, the Williamsburg Independent serves a vital role in the community as a platform for diverse and differing viewpoints on important local issues.
The topics we cover include government, economic development & land issues, housing, traffic, education, business and local charitable causes to name a few. News and commentary will be distinguishable and clearly labeled.
Subscribe to stay informed
The Williamsburg Independent depends on a subscriber model to fund the operation. Our website is updated with new content on a regular basis which is free to read for 7 days. All subscribers get the Subscriber Digest, which is emailed every week or so, depending on how busy we are covering news and creating other new content.
This means you don’t have to pay anything to stay current on local news or commentary. So, subscribe for free — but you’ll have to follow along!

Our priority is providing readers with a pleasant, distraction-free experience. You will not see ads on our site. But, as an additional source of revenue, we post relevant content about our region that contains paid affiliate links or other forms of advertising, such as sponsorships.
